Description

Lubricant is specially formulated to reduce torque and drag and to improve drilling fluid performance. Now formulated using a fully synthetic, aromatic free base, Genesis Lube™ 2.0 provides performance and cost benefits over competing products.

Genesis Lube™ 2.0 delivers lower torque and drag, increased rate-of-penetration and reduced drilling costs.

Application

When added, Genesis Lube™ 2.0 can be mixed directly into the drilling fluid. The product is self-emulsifying and it quickly becomes fully incorporated into the fluid. Combined with small amounts of water wetting surfactant in water-based fluids, lubricant losses to cuttings and drilled solids can be minimized.

A program to optimize the utilization of Genesis Lube™ 2.0 includes the regular measurement of lubricity coefficient. Using both industry standard and proprietary methods, Genesis Fluids, LLC evaluates fluid performance by the actual determination of downhole friction factors using torque and drag modelling.

Without these techniques, most suppliers of lubricants make recommendations based on arbitrary concentrations that result in higher costs and inconsistent performance.

Product Benefits

Effective in fresh water, brine, and nonaqueous fluids, Genesis Lube™ 2.0 is utilized in all fluid types. Many additives do not perform in the presence of contaminants. Since most drilling operations experience contamination from produced hydrocarbons and cuttings, an additive that will not lose effectiveness in these environments is preferred.

Genesis Lube™ 2.0 is formulated to perform under extreme downhole conditions of temperature to over 400°F. The hydrocarbon phase of the product is completely aromatic free and fully synthetic.

Recommended Treatment

An initial application of 1 vol% (3 lb/bbl) Genesis Lube™ 2.0 has proven effective. Additions typically begin in the build section and continue to total depth. Concentrations up to 6 vol% can improve performance.

Another way to utilize the superior lubrication of the product is as a spot treatment when high torque or slow rate-of-penetration (ROP) occurs. In these situations, pills of 50 bbl mixed at 5 vol% or greater provide relief from high torque and slow ROP.
