Description
This lubricant is specially formulated to reduce torque and drag and to improve fluid performance. Formulated using plant-based additives, Genesis Clean Lube™ provides performance and cost benefits over competing products.
Genesis Clean Lube™ delivers lower torque and drag, increased rate-of-penetration and reduced drilling costs.
Application
When added, Genesis Clean Lube™ can be mixed directly into the drilling fluid. The product is water soluble and self-emulsifying so it quickly becomes fully incorporated into the fluid.
A program to optimize the utilization of Genesis Clean Lube™ includes the regular measurement of the lubricity coefficient. Using industry standard and proprietary methods, Genesis Fluids LLC evaluates fluid performance by the actual determination of downhole friction factors using torque and drag modeling.
Without these techniques, most suppliers of lubricants make recommendations based on arbitrary concentrations that result in higher costs and inconsistent performance.
Product Benefits
Effective in fresh water, brine, and nonaqueous fluids, Genesis Clean Lube™ is utilized in all fluid types. Many additives do not perform in the presence of contaminants. Since most drilling operations experience contamination from produced hydrocarbons and cuttings, an additive that will not lose effectiveness in these environments is preferred.
Genesis Clean Lube™ is formulated to perform under extreme downhole conditions of temperature to over 400°F. Since the major components of the fluid are plant based and water soluble, flammability and HSE issues are minimal.
Recommended Treatment
An initial application of 1 vol% (3 lb/bbl) Genesis Clean Lube™ has proven effective. Additions typically begin in the build section and continue to total depth. Concentrations up to 6 vol% can improve performance.
Another way to utilize the superior lubrication of the product is as a spot treatment when high torque or slow rate-ofpenetration (ROP) occurs. In these situations, pills of 50 bbl mixed at 5 vol% or greater provide relief from high torque and slow ROP.
