Description

Genesis RP-524 provides performance and cost benefits over competing secondary emulsifiers in all oil mud applications. A premium product, Genesis RP-524 delivers improved fluid stability and emulsion strength at lower concentrations due to its robust chemistry.

Application

Genesis RP-524 is used to provide a combination of emulsification and oil wetting in inverse emulsion fluids. Designed for conventional diesel oil-based and synthetic inverts treated with lime and calcium chloride, RP-524 produces a tight emulsion with high stability at low additive concentrations. Combined with conventional primary emulsifiers and wetting agents, it can provide needed performance or desirable cost reductions.

Product Benefits

Genesis RP-524 provides viscosity control and control of fluid properties to bottom hole temperatures of 400°F and above. The use of RP-524 can be extended to less critical applications where it improves the fluid properties at much lower treating levels than conventional additives. This will result in lower costs and improved fluid stability.

Recommended Treatment

In wells encountering high temperatures an initial treatment of 2 lb/bbl has proven effective in improving thermal stability of the viscosity, gel strengths, lower filtrate, and improved filter cake. After initial treatment, additions should be determined by changes in properties and estimated product concentrations. Typical treating volumes of RP-524 will be 25% to 50% less than with typical less concentrated secondary emulsifiers.
