Description

An amine based, water soluble corrosion inhibitor for use in brine fluids Genesis GenShield™ provides performance and cost benefits over competing products.

Genesis GenShield™ effectively controls corrosion of tubulars at low concentrations in brines.

Application

When added, Genesis GenShield™ can be mixed directly into the drilling fluid. Once the initial concentration of 0.5% is established, a corrosion monitoring and mitigation program should be used to guide further additions. The program should include planned measurement and control of dissolved oxygen (DO), hydrogen sulfide (H2S), and sulfate reducing bacteria (SRB).

Product Benefits

Advanced amine chemistry developed and proven for completion fluids results in reduced corrosion in brines used in drilling and completions. Effective at low concentration, the product is compatible with oxygen scavengers, including those using erythorbate chemistry. It is also compatible with commonly used biocides such as glutaraldehyde.

Recommended Treatment

An initial application of 0.5 vol% Genesis GenShield™ has proven effective. In severe situations, concentrations of up to 1.5 vol% can be used.

Concentration should be maintained by monitoring brine additions and treating accordingly through regular tourly treatments.

Regular monitoring of fluid parameters related to corrosion is highly recommended including dissolved oxygen, hydrogen sulfide, and bacterial activity.

Handling and storage

Avoid skin and eye contact, inhalation or ingestion. For skin contact, wash with soap and large quantities of water. For eye contact, flush with large quantities of water. Use in well ventilated area. Refer to product safety data sheet (SDS) for more information.
